Cannabis Grow Discovered in Ashford

On 23 September 2026, Ashford Neighbourhood Policing Team officers carried out a proactive visit to a property on Francis Road, Ashford, following intelligence suggesting a potential cannabis cultivation linked to wider cultivations in the county.

Upon attending, officers identified signs consistent with a cannabis grow and subsequently forced entry to the address. Inside, approximately 300 cannabis plants were discovered and seized.

One adult male was arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug, namely cannabis as well as money laundering and perverting the course of justice. He remains under investigation.

Cannabis cultivation is often linked to organised criminality and can pose significant risks to neighbouring properties due to unsafe electrical installations, fire hazards, and anti-social behaviour.

Signs of a Cannabis Grow

Please be alert to the following warning signs:

A strong smell similar to cannabis coming from a property.

Curtains or windows that are permanently covered or blacked out.

Bright lights visible at unusual times of the day or night.

Excessive condensation on windows.

Unusual humming or buzzing noises from extraction fans.

Electrical wiring that appears tampered with or unusual cabling leading into a property.

Residents rarely seen entering or leaving the address.

Frequent visits to a property at unsociable hours.
